Brief Description of Services Provided: AADAC Youth Services is dedicated to helping adolescents develop a lifestyle free from the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and gambling. We work with youth, their families, professionals, and the community to address a full range of concerns related to adolescents and addictions. From education, information and prevention through to residential treatment and aftercare, AADAC Youth Services provides a broad continuum of services.
Special Populations:Aboriginal, Court Involved, Concurrent disorders (mental health issues), Any youth requiring treatment

Programs Offered:

Adolescent and Family Counselling Services
This service provides information, assessment, outpatient counselling, aftercare and referral services for adolescents and their families. Professional consultation on substance use and problem gambling issues is also available. Weekly youth and parent information and skills groups are offered on an ongoing basis to raise awareness and support skill development towards a substance and gambling free lifestyle.

Protection of Children Abusing Drugs Act
This is an up to five day, parent initiated program for youth who are abusing alcohol and/or other drugs and would benefit from detoxification and assessment in a protective setting. Admission to this program is available through the Provincial Court of Alberta.

Intensive Day Treatment Program
The ACTION Program provides individual, group and family counselling, a therapeutic recreation program, and an onsite school. This program can be modified to suit individual client needs. Youth are assessed and matched to the treatment methods most appropriate for them. There are three program phases - Orientation, Personal Powers and Transition. These provide youth with the tools to live lives free of addictions in their home communities. Family involvement is strongly encouraged. Residential support services (community support homes) are available to participants.

Residential Treatment Program - Adventure Therapy Wilderness Model
This three-month program provides youth with an experiential and active approach to treatment. Using the environment to challenge the youth to think and act differently, this program is a good match for those who are in need of a more remote environment and alternative approach while recovering from their addiction.

Residential Detox and Stabilization
This service focuses on a planned intake supporting safe withdrawal from drugs or alcohol, and includes engagement and treatment planning. This 6-10 day program occurs in a nurturing supportive and structured environment. Family is encouraged to be involved in the treatment process and transition planning.

Restrictions or Exclusions Criteria: Voluntary - requires capability/willingness to participate, cannot be actively suicidal, must be able to function in a group environment.
